Forlorn Forest

“The silencing of the rainforests is a double
deforestation, not only of trees but a deforestation of
the mind’s music, medicine and knowledge.” – Jay
Griffiths.
‘Forlorn Forest’ tells the story of a forest that
was once mystical and full of life, however due to the
effects of deforestation now lays desolate. The first
section of the piece depicts a gloomy and doleful
atmosphere, painting the image of abandonment and
despair. The middle section reflects on how the forest
used to be – blooming and blissful. Suddenly the
sorrowful world of what is now a forlorn forest is
brought back – ending the piece.
